• In Florida you have the option of waiting 3 days to obtain your license or you can use the Premarital Course by a provider of premarital courses that is registered and approved in the county you are seeking the license. The course certificate is good for one year. The license costs $93.50, but if you complete the premarital course, your fee will be $61.00. When you take the premarital course, you are issued a certificate which you take with you when you obtain your marriage license.
• You may obtain the license in one county and use it to get married in a different county.
• Both bride and groom must be present to obtain the license.
• A ceremony must take place within 60 days of the date that the marriage license is issued.
• If either person has been married previously, you must provide the EXACT date of divorce, death or annulment that ended the marriage.
• You must provide identification that has the applicants picture, signature and date of birth (driver's license, passport, military ID, State of Florida ID, and alien registration card are acceptable.) If you are a citizen of the United States, you must also provide your Social Security number. If you are NOT a U.S. citizen, you may use your Passport, Alien Registration Card, Driver's License or other legal identification form if you do not have a Social Security number.
• If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you must also provide your birth certificate and parental consent (check with your Clerk's office for any additional requirements).
• You are NOT required to have blood tests.
• You are required to have a properly issued marriage license BEFORE the marriage ceremony. After the ceremony, you must file your certificate with the SAME Clerk's office where you obtained the license within 10 days of the ceremony.
